Prayer

“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work.   Prayer is the greater work.”  Oswald Chambers

This page will be a rolling log of comments where prayer requests are shared (by anyone), comfort and wisdom can be offered, and a permanent record of God’s work in answering our prayers is recorded.

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  2 Thess. 5:16-18

Today I’m praying Eph. 1: 17-18, and 3:14-21 as I will daily for Sue and our kids and myself so that Matthew 5:16, John 13:35 and Psalm 67 would be true about our lives on our journeys to other parts of God’s world.

Wow! I am amazed at the two seperate journeys your family is taking. What an amazing witness of extending God’s kingdom you all are. You, Sue and your four kids will be in our prayers and we will be checking ALL the BLOGS regularly! LOL!

May the LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU AND CAUSE HIS FACE TO SHINE UPON YOU!

      In Christ,
      Tracie Martin

Please pray thanksgiving to God for His provision of our visas and medical clearance. Next up is the final residence visa which will allow our travel in and out of China during our time here. That should be complete by next week.

Please also pray for wisdom and revelation as to whether God would have me walk through a door that has just opened since we arrived. The TIP program, operating in Beijing since 2005, has been authorized to take “the show on the road” and to other universities and settings around China. Our team has been invited to participate. The first group could be in the Yunnan province as early as September for 1-2 months then on to other areas as yet undetermined. This journey of joyful uncertainty has a whole new dimension I was not anticipating but am considering.

I will be praying asking God for specific revelation from His word, His people, and His Spirit, as I examine my circumstances.

Just saw this particular prayer. Will be praying for wisdom for you. Will it affect your being able to see your kids in September?

I praise God and thank my faithful friends and prayer warriors! Today, I first offer praise for

    1. His working to draw me away from the “snack time” approach I’ve had in the recent days to feeding on the truth I have free access to in His Word. The sermon here on Sunday brought with it God’s gentle but firm reminder and invitation to dive deeply again allow Him to wash His truth across my heart. I made that recommitment and have been rewarded with great joy and resources. I prayed and searched for a reading plan and found John Piper’s companion study guide to his book “Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ”, a favorite I’ve read twice already. The 1st 2 days have been incredible already and I can’t wait for the next 39 before I ask Him what’s next (maybe a read the bible in 90 days plan to finish up 2009?)

    2. I have met and prayed and shared stories with my teammate Kyle the past few mornings and we specifically asked to see God working here in the students and through us and I know the answer came in part with the personal story I was priveleged to hear 2 days ago from a student at lunch.

    3. I have asked God for provision to afford to fly to an interview I hope to get with Teach for America. I submitted my app last Friday and will have an answer tomorrow. While praying for the application/interview process to be a part of God’s revelation of His will for me in pursuing this opportunity, I know I would have to fly to the US and have only the expectation that He will resource it as I do not have financial margin for that currently. So, a friend sends a message to call and talk to them about their desire to donate frequent flier miles to me and I know God is already making a way. HE IS SO AWESOME!

Please pray for favor for me with God and people in the TfA interview process and for wisdom, insight, discernment, and understanding that I would know Him more and pursue only His will for my next steps after returning from China.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!
